Maintenance Worker

Job Description

The Werba Property Management team is hiring for a Building Maintenance Employee. This position is responsible for the general maintenance of a property management portfolio of properties throughout Queens. We are looking for someone with strong mechanical, facility maintenance/repair, and electrical skill set. This position will be responsible for building repair, electrical repair, boiler repair, mechanical troubleshooting, painting, as well as preventative maintenance concerns. This position will be responsible for ensuring quality maintenance service for our clients and customers throughout the buildings managed by Werba Property Management. The job will require ability to work overtime and weekends if needed to attend to emergency issues. The schedule for this position is generally Monday-Friday with after hour/weekend emergency call availability as needed; schedule can change without advance notice to support the operations of the maintenance/management team.

Responsibilities Include but are Not Limited to:

  • General maintenance, orderliness, and cleanliness responsibilities to ensure the proper condition of the buildings and equipment

  • Ability to independently carry out daily routine work orders

  • Capability to read, interpret and understand technical literature/manuals

  • General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical and HVAC systems

  • Demonstrated experience in electrical repairs & plumbing concerns including but not limited to: fixing leaks, washers, minor pipe replacements

  • Hands on experience to build and repair cabinets, counters, closets etc. as needed

  • Skills in plastering and painting as needed

  • Experience in repairing entrance and internal doors, locks, hinges

  • Demonstrated computer literacy; especially with email, MS Office: Word/Excel, iPad operation

  • Reporting any concerns to management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience at a property management company or handyman role

  • 2nd Language a plus: Polish/Spanish but not required
